MECE 3360 - ExperiMENTAL Methods

Ohhhhh Buddy. Have I a pure treasure trove of data for you! That is if the class hasn't changed by the time you need this. I've got:

Old Exams (Filled Out and Answered)
Homeworks
Books
Old Lab Reports (Lots of them)
Matlab scripts
Coursehero Downloads
Pictures (of lab experiments and setups)
An Exam key (which I really shouldn't have)
AND a veritable data mine of old class materials from a poorly curated student Google drive. I've tried to organize some of it but it's still a mess...

Basically with everything in here, you would never need to go to class. BUTT...
Chen and maybe others periodically take attendance in the lectures (quizzes) and you aren't really allowed to miss ANY of the labs at all. Seriously, don't miss any of them. If there is no way to get around missing it (say you're in a car wreck or something) you will still need to make up the labs either by yourself or with another lab class.

Labs won't happen EVERY week because of spring break and other holidays and sometimes there's just no labs to do. For us there were (technically) 11 labs, but that also includes some homework type labs like the statistics lab and regression analysis labs.

ALSO, Some of the labs are "formal" labs. The way I looked at it was treat all labs as formal labs so you won't need to do extra work for the formal labs.

LAB NOTEBOOK TIPS: (from someone who works in an actual lab)
1.) Keep up with your lab notebook! Otherwise you'll be scrambling to put it together at the end of the semester.
2.) You CAN keep track of things electronically and then glue printouts into the lab notebook.
3.) Make sure you have a table of contents.
4.) Write good descriptions of the instructions and each step.
5.) Write the data points you get (unless there are large sets of data of course)

Chen is a ball buster.
