MECE 3336 - Dynamics
First a little advice. To do this class well you MUST practice!!! A LOT. Some will find this class easy and naturally understand the concepts (uber jelly bro). It's damn difficult don't let anyone fool you. For pain-in-the-ass chapters like 3,4,5,6 where you have to build the equations (2,8 are fairly formulaic and therefore easier), just practice the very basics and build the FBD for each problem (don't solve). Once you get that down, solve them as symbolically as you can (LOTS of symbolic q's on tests and quizzes). Helped me anyway. Cheerio.
**DYNAMICS 2 ADVICE**
Advice from taking MECE 3338 (Dynamics II) - LEARN CHAPTER 8 OF DYNAMICS 1 VERY VERY WELL. Up to the first test you will be building equations from systems with springs and dampers most of the time. Also, brush up (HEAVILY) on your Laplace transform skills from MATH 3321 (Engineering Math) (I've got stuff from that class around on DropBox). Virtually all the math up to the first test will deal with Laplace transforms so be ready! No MATLAB until after the first exam.

Dropbox Link (UPDATED April 2025) for textbook and other related materials ( I check it and it should be working now! Apologies for the insane (and many year) delay!)
UPDATE #1
Realizations after EXAM 1.
The professors are absolutely worthless*.
The test (if it is indicative of subject difficulty), was not THAT difficult. However, after speaking with a more experienced engineer (who dealt with a much earlier version of this book), the book is TERRIBLE. So many problems and not much explanation. He recommended "Schaum's Outline for Engineering Statics and Dynamics" which has been put into the Dropbox folder.
Also, the Hibbeler engineering statics/dynamics book (to me) explains concepts in a bit more depth. This too will be in the Dropbox folder.
*To clarify, I mean COMPLETELY useless. Even going to office hours didn't help much...make a friend.
UPDATE #2
Still haven't been able to track down the solutions manual, but the 6th edition has many of the same problems as the 8th (some with a difference here and there).
I will update the dropbox once the semester is over with.
This link will take you to set of YouTube dynamics videos that are EXTREMELY (at least for me) HELPFUL by doughag.
UPDATE #2a
Just finished clearing up the mess of a problem 6-52. I made a color-coded PDF to help guide you through the problem. Chegg doesn't have an "official" answer and the other answers are either wrong or a mess. (go to dropbox link at the top of the page)
UPDATE #FINAL
Uploaded all of the homework assignments and solutions (not sure if they change semester to semester). Also, uploaded a bunch of old tests and quizzes from current (Fall17) and previous semesters. I'll keep an eye out for the solutions manual (8th edition), but so far they have that fairly locked down :-( Don't forget to share, thanks, and good luck!
For those that have just found this site... I can't stand those sites that make you sign up for random crap then never take you to download the actual file, and I certainly (as long as I can help it) am NOT paying for another textbook (as if school doesn't cost an arm and a dick as it is...). For these reasons, I post any materials I can find; books, test banks, homework answers, past quizzes, past tests, other study materials... FOR FREE. No spam, no garbage, no bullshit, just info.
All hyperlinks go to my personal dropbox or youtube stuffs.
The ONLY thing I ask is that you please share, that's it!
Thanks a lot for the Dropbox link. It's extremely helpful. Can I ask which appliaction you used for the Color Coded pdf file? I've been taking notes on One Note, but it is hell to export file.
ReplyDeletedo you have the dropbox stuff?
DeleteIf you got it can you please share it with me 🙏 please
DeleteDropbox link has been updated! Sorry, after graduation I never checked it!
Deletehey I really enjoy you posting these things but the dropbox link doesnt seem to work.
ReplyDeleteThe Dropbox link does not work :(
DeleteLink now working. I do apologize and hope everything went well in that crazy class!
DeleteHi! Thank you for all you doing. I noticed the link does not work
ReplyDeleteDropbox link is working again. Apologies, I do hope everything came out all right for you in this class!
